9:00 AM-CLE-Effective Communication with Compromised Participants in the Legal System

This program acknowledges that many people in our legal system suffer from issues that create barriers to effective communication. These issues include mental health issues, autism, drug and alcohol addiction, sexual abuse, medical issues, trauma, and grief. A panel of three experts who work with a variety of people in our system will describe methods to maximize effective communication with compromised participants.

10:15 AM-CLE –Police Use of Force; Three Sides of the Story

This program will explore issues surrounding the use of force, including deadly force, by law enforcement from different perspectives including the prosecutorial investigation and decision-making process, the issues raised in defending officers charged with crimes, and the role of the judiciary when charges are filed.
