SUMMARY:Barristers' Inn- Rescheduled Date
DESCRIPTION:This program was originally scheduled for 3-15-17 but postponed to April 10th due to poor weather conditions. \nThis is what Team I has in store for your CLE accredited presentation. \n  \nTeam I\, which now includes both Judge Johnson and retired Judge Wallitsch\, will present a fictional trial in Saudi Arabia involving an American exchange student accused of murder and theft.  The presentation will cover the entire case\, from the initial arrest to the ultimate determination at trial.    The goal will be to demonstrate the similarities and differences between the rights and remedies in such cases between the United States and Muslim Countries.  Along the way\, Team I believes they will bust a number of myths that exist in the United States regarding Shari’a law.

SUMMARY:Law Day Luncheon 2017
DESCRIPTION:The 14th Amendment\n \n \nBALC Members and Guests are invited to attend this annual event at The Bar Association of Lehigh County. Please join your fellow colleagues for this luncheon as we discuss The 14th Amendment\n \nThe 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy\nThe 2017 theme provides the opportunity to explore the many ways that the Fourteenth Amendment has reshaped American law and society. Through its Citizenship\, Due Process and Equal Protection clauses\, this transformative amendment advanced the rights of all Americans. It also played a pivotal role in extending the reach of the Bill of Rights to the states. Ratified during Reconstruction a century and a half ago\, the Fourteenth Amendment serves as the cornerstone of landmark civil rights legislation\, the foundation for numerous federal court decisions protecting fundamental rights\, and a source of inspiration for all those who advocate for equal justice under law. \nClick here to learn more about the 14th Amendment through the Library of Congress. \n  \n$22 Per Person (Open Seating) $176 Per Table of 8 (Reserved) \n$220 Per Table of 10 (Reserved\, Only 4 Available) \n Reserve your seat online \n*Online Registration not available for reserved tables. Please call in. RSVP to Karen at 610-433-6204 x 12 \nRSVP deadline:  COB April 28th \nPlease plan on attending this luncheon. SUMMARY:Barristers Inn: It's Not What You Say\, But How You Say It
DESCRIPTION:The Judge Donald E. Wieand Barristers Inn\n  \nThe Bar Association of Lehigh County is proud to announce the opening of the 2017-2018 season of The Judge Donald E. Wieand Barristers’ Inn\, an organization consisting of Lehigh Valley lawyers and our own Judges of the Superior\, Commonwealth\, Common Pleas and federal courts\, dedicated to the development of outstanding lawyers who meet the highest ethical and intellectual standards. \nThe new season of programs begins on Wednesday\, September 27 at the Barristers’  Club. \nWe welcome back our past members and invite those who have yet to be a part of the Inn to join us this season. The first program\, September 27 \, is open to all.  You will enjoy a gourmet buffet dinner with colleagues at 5:30 PM\, learn and be entertained during the program starting at 6:00 PM\, earn an optional CLE credit\, and be on your way home by 7:00 PM. \nThere are many benefits when you join the Barristers’ Inn.  It is a fantastic way for members of the Bar to connect and socialize with each other and members of the Bench  while earning up to an optional eight CLE credits from programs taught by the Bench and many of the Lehigh Valley’s top lawyers.  New this season\, the Inn will devote the final few minutes of each presentation to afford our judges an opportunity to share their views\, experience and wisdom.  Application has been made for members of the Pennsylvania courts to receive Continuing Judicial Education credits as well. Our programs this new season will include two ethics credits.  It is truly a one-of-a-kind organization here in the Lehigh Valley. \nFor more information\, please contact Barristers’ Inn President\, Philip M. Hof at PMH@valleyinjury.com or by phone at (610) 258-6184. \n\n\nSeptember 27\, 2017 \nTeam III – Team Captain: Christine Lombardo-Zaun\, Esq. \nTitle: “It’s Not What You Say\, But How You Say It” \nDescription: How often have you heard this saying?  This dynamic CLE will not teach you how to persuade others\, as it will be assumed you know how to persuade as a licensed attorney.  However\, the presenters will demonstrate HOW practitioners persuade in various situations that they face on a day-to-day basis.  This will be a hands-on learning experience where you will learn what kind of persuader you are via an interactive survey.  The presenters will explore the various personality styles and tools that you can use to be most effective in any kind of persuasive situation you face (and yes\, they are different!)\, whether you are the persuader or the person being persuaded.  These are skills that you will be able to take with you to use outside your practice as well
