The Bar Association of Lehigh County is proud to announce the opening of the 2017-2018 season of The Judge Donald E. Wieand Barristers’ Inn, an organization consisting of Lehigh Valley lawyers and our own Judges of the Superior, Commonwealth, Common Pleas and federal courts, dedicated to the development of outstanding lawyers who meet the highest ethical and intellectual standards.
The new season of programs begins on Wednesday, September 27 at the Barristers’ Club.
We welcome back our past members and invite those who have yet to be a part of the Inn to join us this season. The first program, September 27 , is open to all. You will enjoy a gourmet buffet dinner with colleagues at 5:30 PM, learn and be entertained during the program starting at 6:00 PM, earn an optional CLE credit, and be on your way home by 7:00 PM.
There are many benefits when you join the Barristers’ Inn. It is a fantastic way for members of the Bar to connect and socialize with each other and members of the Bench while earning up to an optional eight CLE credits from programs taught by the Bench and many of the Lehigh Valley’s top lawyers. New this season, the Inn will devote the final few minutes of each presentation to afford our judges an opportunity to share their views, experience and wisdom. Application has been made for members of the Pennsylvania courts to receive Continuing Judicial Education credits as well. Our programs this new season will include two ethics credits. It is truly a one-of-a-kind organization here in the Lehigh Valley.

Title: “It’s Not What You Say, But How You Say It”
Description: How often have you heard this saying? This dynamic CLE will not teach you how to persuade others, as it will be assumed you know how to persuade as a licensed attorney. However, the presenters will demonstrate HOW practitioners persuade in various situations that they face on a day-to-day basis. This will be a hands-on learning experience where you will learn what kind of persuader you are via an interactive survey. The presenters will explore the various personality styles and tools that you can use to be most effective in any kind of persuasive situation you face (and yes, they are different!), whether you are the persuader or the person being persuaded. These are skills that you will be able to take with you to use outside your practice as well
