The Board of Governors of the Society invites you and your family to the annual

RED MASS

OCTOBER 12, 2016, WEDNESDAY AT 7:00 PM
FOLLOWED BY A RECEPTION IN THE PARISH ACTIVITY CENTER

MASS WILL BE CELEBRATED BY BISHOP JOHN O. BARRES, S.T.D., J.C.L., D.D.
Bishop Fitzgerald is the Titular Bishop of Tamallula and Auxiliary to the Archbishop of Philadelphia.  He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Temple University, his Juris Doctorate from Villanova University, and his Master of Divinity from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.  He was ordained a priest on May 17, 1980 and consecrated as Bishop on August 6, 2010.  He obtained his Juris Canonici Licentia from Catholic University of America and his Juris Canonici Doctor from Gregorian University.

The tradition of the Red Mass dates back to the thirteenth century.  It is a Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit that invokes divine blessings upon all those involved in the pursuit of justice – especially judges, lawyers and elected officials.  It is named for the red vestments worn by clerics and the red robes worn by the judges of the High Court in England.
